Political Agendas: Gun Control

Through political agendas pushed by media outlets, mass shootings have faced an increase within the United States. A political agenda is simply the focus on “building a community through mass communication” (McCombs). News sources will attempt to do this by communicating a common belief to its viewers or spectators. These shootings offer an easy way to “prove” that these media sources are correct about their ideals. More simply put, “school shootings appeal to the media because it is almost a theatrical performance used to help further an agenda set by these media sources” (School Shootings). One of the largest political agendas set by media outlets is advocating for gun control.
